Uniforms

At Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School (SHCPS) our school uniforms play a vital role in embodying the spirit of our vision and mission. As partners with parents and families, we are dedicated to fostering the well-being, learning, and character development of our students. Our uniform policy aligns with these goals, creating a conducive educational environment where every student can feel connected and proud to be a part of our school community.

Uniforms also promote equity by ensuring that students are valued for who they are, rather than what they have. They eliminate distinctions based on economic or social status, fostering a sense of inclusivity amongst all our students. Moreover, uniforms provide practical benefits during certain activities such as Physical Education, where comfort and safety is paramount.

The SHCPS school uniform is a symbol of unity and belonging, fostering a strong sense of identity and pride amongst our students. It simplifies the process for parents, removing the need for discussions about clothing suitability. For your convenience, the purchase of all uniforms is organised directly by our School Office staff.

School Hat

As part of our commitment to the safety and well-being of our students, students are required to wear their school hat whenever they are outdoors, ensuring protection from the sun. Students who do not have a hat will be required to play in the shaded areas (Undercover area for Transition to Year 3 and Basketball Courts for Year 4 to Year 6 students). Hats are also available for purchase via the Front Office.

Hair

Hair that is longer than the collar must be tied back for safety and hygiene reasons.
Hairstyles should not draw undue attention or be extreme in presentation. Hair should be in natural tones, without any extreme highlights or patches of colour. Shaved heads and drastic hair colouring are not permitted.

Jewellery

We discourage the wearing of jewellery during school hours. Students are allowed to wear a wristwatch and a thin gold or silver chain with a cross. However, other forms of jewellery are not acceptable. For pierced ears, only one pair of sleepers or studs is allowed.

We kindly request that all clothing, especially hats, shoes, and other removable items, be labelled with the student’s name to prevent misplacement or confusion.

At Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School, we believe that adherence to these uniform and personal appearance guidelines helps create a positive learning environment and cultivates a strong sense of community and respect amongst our students.

Thank you for your cooperation in consistently upholding these standards.
